The Boy Who Fixed More Than Just a Projector
The Boy Who Fixed More Than Just a Projector
“Some students walk in quietly, sit at the back, and leave the room like shadows. But sometimes… those shadows carry light.”
I still remember the day — it was the second week of August, during a rainy Wednesday, and our Class 10-C was in a bit of chaos.
We had a guest talk scheduled — a young entrepreneur was visiting to speak to our students about innovation. The AV room was ready, the chairs were filled, and we were just about to begin.
And then — the projector blinked. Once. Twice. Dead.
Teachers were whispering. The guest looked confused. My heart sank. We had rehearsed everything.
While everyone was busy trying to fix the wires or call the technician, I noticed Suhas — one of our quieter students — quietly standing near the back, watching the panic.
He wasn’t someone you'd immediately notice. Always on the last bench. Not very vocal. Never topped exams. Not once had he raised his hand in class.
But in that moment, he gently walked up to me and said, "SIR'… can I try once?"
Honestly, I hesitated. Then I said, "Go ahead."
In just 3 minutes, Suhas opened the projector panel, did something with the cables, restarted the switchboard, and just like that… the screen came alive.
Everyone clapped. I was stunned.
After the session, I asked him, “Where did you learn all this?”
He smiled and said, “My father’s a TV mechanic, ma’am. I help him after school. I love fixing things.”
I felt a lump in my throat.
We often expect brilliance to come in loud answers, top marks, and bold speeches. But sometimes, it hides quietly… behind oil-stained hands, shy smiles, and unspoken talent.
That week, Suhas wasn’t the last bencher anymore. He became our AV head — and more importantly, he became seen.
🌱 A Note to My Students
To all my dear students reading this —
- You don’t need to shout to be heard.
- You don’t need to be in front to shine.
Let your actions speak, and trust me — someone is always watching.

“Everyone is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing it is stupid.”
